An increasing concern of consumers worldwide is the potential risks to health of pesticide residues on fruit and vegetables they buy in the market. Pesticide residue refers to the pesticides and agro chemicals that may remain on or in food after they are applied to food crops. In many countries the levels of these residues allowed in foods are stipulated by regulatory bodies but monitoring this can be a challenge.

Exposure of the general population to these residues most commonly occurs through consumption of treated food sources, or being in close contact to areas treated with pesticides such as farms. Organic certification provides a guarantee that the food you buy has no pesticide residues and can be consumed with confidence.
