The Communications Consultant will provide communications support on the ground in Tonga.
The following key responsibilities include;
1. Handle all communications responsibilities for the Tonga Organic Learning Farm Centres on
Tongatapu and Vava’u Island, such as:
✓ Capturing quotes, images and videos of farmers & farms
✓ Write news pieces and feature articles and provide relevant material to local media
✓ Connect farmers and local expertise to mainstream media on their talk-shows, events, etc
✓ Organize events that encourages a dialogue between organic agriculture stakeholders
✓ Translate material accurately to the Tongan language
✓ Coordinate a media campaign on organic farming in Tonga, highlighting difference between conventional farming and organic farming, organic labels, and increasing awareness on
benefits of organic farming and foods.
✓ Ensure strict adherence to the Kiwa Initiative guidelines and graphic charter while customizing tools to effectively promote the Kiwa POLFN project
2. Travel to outer islands to visit the demo farms and first circle farmers will be required on the quarterly basis i.e. Tongatapu, Vava’u
3. Other relevant tasks and travel requested by the POLFN Tonga in country coordinator & POLFN project manager in the other project countries of Nauru, Solomon Islands & Fiji if required.
