The 8th Pacific Heads of Agriculture and Forestry Services meeting will bring together heads of the region’s agriculture and forestry ministries for their first in-person gathering since 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. The annual meeting will be hosted by the Fiji Government with support of the Pacific Community and the Food and Agriculture Organisation. This will be followed by the 3rd FAO SPC Joint Agriculture and Forestry Ministerial Meeting.
These meetings are convened during the Pacific Week of Agriculture and Forestry (PWAF) 6-10 March 2023,under the theme Growing Together: Transforming Pacific Agriculture and Forestry. The PWAF looks to capture fresh energy and new developments in the region after three years of COVID-19 disruption.
The week will include a series of side events, with proposed themes that include: pandemics, climate change and natural resource security, transforming agriculture and security through science and technology and creating a circular green economy for agriculture and forestry.
The events of the week will look to a shared Pacific future of resilience, innovation and sustainable green growth. It will also provide an opportunity for member countries to drive the conversation and provide guidance to partners working with the region in regard to goals and work priorities for the following two years.
